NTS…National Traffic System

National Traffic System (NTS)  consists of a group of amateur radio operators who work together to relay messages throughout the United States and Canada. You will learn how to compose a radiogram. You will learn how to send a message to your out-of-state contact(s)  with twenty-five words or less .  You can be the person to send communications of safety on behalf of your family, friends and neighbors. One factor of resiliency during a critical event is letting your family know that you are safe thus allowing you to focus on your own recovery from the critical event. There are many NTS nets, many of which are held daily.  One in our specific area is LAN (Los Angeles Net), which is held every Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm (2000) on the SCRN repeaters scrn.net  (Southern California Radio Network, INC.) Check at the bottom of the page for more information about this repeater.

Contact Acting Net Manager, Kate Hutton  katehutton@gmail.com for more information about how you can be a viable communication link from your location to an out of area location.

BOB (Big Orange Box) getting ready to deploy or use at home when power is not available. It took a team of friendly operators to put BOB together in 2019…thank you to Randy-WB6NCT (SK) and Jm-KM6TGJ (SK). Many go-boxes are equipped to send messages through gateways, not using the internet.
