ShakeOut Day October 17, 2024 at the Altadena Sheriff Station and local neighborhoods.

The Great California ShakeOut – Get Ready to …

Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drillshttps://www.shakeout.org › california

Thursday, 10/17/2024..We usually set up in the lower parking lot of the Altadena Sheriff Station at 0920. Come prepared with your first aid kit, hydration and radio equipment, paper/pencil with clipboard. The station will have a few tables set up for our use, plus some chairs. As in any deployment event, you may want to bring your small table and chair.

Mike-KM6KAQ is net control station, Anne-K6ALH is radio and scribe person. You will probably see a few B2V car decals 🙂

Check your home, your family and your neighbors after a critical event. THEN find a frequency to send a health/welfare winlink message, send a text message using winlink, communicate by available means so your family can know about your level of safety. Take this opportunity to send a DYFI report. I have sent emails from Oliver-K6OLI, ARES LAX NE. His emails give explicit information about sending the DYFI report.

Focus on your own safety, safety of your team, safety of utilities, sanitation, and lessons learned from this practice drill.

“The fire station is on the NW corner of El Molino and Mariposa. The back driveway of the Sherrif station is on the north side of mariposa, just past the fire station. It is either the first or second driveway west of El Molino.”  Thank you Anne-K6ALH for the directions for ShakeOut at the Altadena Sheriff Station.

These two links have been lifted from  LAXNORTHEAST meeting on 10.14.2023. Oliver-K6OLI holds a zoom meeting on the third Saturday of the month. Everyone is welcome:-) … this is a fantastic resource for all things radio and camaraderie.

Altadena LASD Station CERT Community Emergency Response Team

The Altadena LASD Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) team welcomes anyone who wants to volunteer for your local CERT. The program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may occur where they live. In Altadena, the local team reports to the Altadena Sheriff’s Station. We work closely with Sheriffs, LA County Fire, Altadena Map Your Neighborhood, and Red Cross Territory 2.

CERT trains volunteers in basic disaster response skills, such as: fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. There are teams nationwide. The CERT program offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.

We have a meeting the second Wednesday of every month 530-7pm at the Altadena Community Center (ACC) at 730 Altadena Drive, just west of the Sheriff’s Station.
